So many brands — why Pramac?

There are dozens of generator brands on the Australian market. Most low-cost imports look identical on paper — same kVA, same fuel type, often the same engine make. The difference shows up only when the unit fails.

01

Pramac — 55 years of generator engineering

Pramac was founded in 1966 in Casole d'Elsa, Tuscany. They design and build generators across the full range from 1 kVA portables to 3,300 kVA prime-power units. Since 2016, Pramac is part of Generac Holdings — the largest standby power manufacturer in North America — with the global supply chain and R&D investment that comes with that.
02

Component sourcing — why it matters

Pramac doesn't make engines or alternators in-house. They source from the world's best: • Engines: Yanmar (small portable), Lombardini / Kohler (small standby), Perkins (industrial), Cummins (large industrial), Volvo Penta (mid-large industrial) • Alternators: Mecc Alte, Stamford, Linz Electric • Controllers: Deep Sea Electronics (DSE) Every one of these brands has a full Australian dealer network. If a part fails, it's available next-day from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth.

Why Capital Power Systems

We are an authorised PRAMAC dealer and an authorised Deep Sea Electronics distributor — both based in Brisbane. That means: • Our technicians are factory-trained on the exact models we sell • We stock common DSE panels, voltage regulators, and AVRs locally • Warranty work happens here, not through an offshore claim form • Our service vehicles carry the right tools and specialised gauges

FAQs

Honestly — not really. Pramac sits in the mid-tier on price (premium tier on quality), competitive with Cummins, Kohler, Caterpillar. The brands BELOW Pramac on price typically use non-rewindable Chinese alternators and unsupported controllers — total cost of ownership over 10 years is usually higher.
